DNV publishes bankability study of Solcast satellite irradiance data

Solcast, a DNV Company and global provider of solar irradiance historical actuals and forecasting for solar energy, achieves a significant milestone as DNV validates its satellite irradiance data as bankable. In a report published today, DNV, the leading global energy expert and assurance provider, found Solcast’s historical data and irradiance methodology bankable, and at or above industry standards for satellite irradiance data.

DNV delivers a market study on Denmark’s opportunities for becoming a European CO2 hub

DNV has recently completed an extensive market study commissioned by a consortium of Danish companies and organizations in the CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) industry. The study focuses on assessing the possibilities and business potential of establishing Denmark as a key European CO2 hub. This initiative aligns with Denmark's ambitious climate targets, aiming for a 70% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and complete climate neutrality by 2045.

Maritime decarbonization efforts propelled as orders for alternative-fueled vessels grow

The latest stats from DNV’s Alternative Fuels Insight (AFI) platform found that a total of 298 ships with alternative fuel propulsion were ordered in 2023 – an 8% increase year on year. The year also saw methanol go mainstream, with a sharp increase in orders (138), putting it neck and neck with LNG (130). Additionally, 2023 marked a breakout year for ammonia, with 11 orders for vessels run on this fuel, and more in the pipeline.

DNV launches joint industry project to identify barriers to the use of High Voltage Direct Current transmission in the U.S. grid

DNV launched a joint industry project (JIP) with ten offshore wind and transmission developers to identify changes to electrical standards and standardization needed to enable the connection of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission into the United States’ electric grid. HVDC is an essential component for integrating offshore wind, and other sources of clean energy, reliably and cost-effectively onto the power grid over long distances.
