Wind energy represents a fraction of the world's energy supply, but is estimated to grow steeply over the next 20 years.*
Floating offshore wind turbines can significantly expand the area for wind energy development as they can be used in deeper water compared to fixed structures.
With new functionality in Sesam software from DNV GL it is now possible to perform a complete structural analysis of support structures for floating wind platforms, including the coupling effect of loads from the waves, the wind turbine and the mooring lines.

About the speaker:
Torgeir Vada has a PhD in Hydrodynamics from the University of Oslo in 1985. He has been working in DNV GL since then and with Sesam since 1997, first as a developer and then in various line manager positions. He currently holds a position as Product Manager for Floating structures.
