Successful announcement of Request for Interest

It was with great success the tender (RfI) was announced at Felleskjøpet's facilities at Kambo on July 3rd. The project was well received by the market and by the Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment, Sveinung Rotevatn who got handed over a copy of the document. The press was also present and covered the whole event. Among them, Aftenposten/E24 and Teknisk Ukeblad. The occasion was also mentioned in TradeWinds (Subscription required).

“This cooperation is a perfect match. HeidelbergCement and ourselves use the same ships, and through the Green Shipping Programme we learned that both had common goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and how we could combine our efforts in this combined tender process”, says Logistics Manager Per-Kenneth Øye in Felleskjøpet. Lars Erik Marcussen, Chartering Manager in HeidelbergCement, says “We have set the requirements for zero-emission of greenhouse gases in this transport contract with a duration of up to 20 years. It is up to the shipowners, yards and other partners to decide on the technical solution. However, it is important that the solutions are scalable and can be used for many ships in the years to come.”

Narve Mjøs, Director of Green Shipping Programme (GSP), says that this project, which started as a pilot in GSP, is essential because HeidelbergCement and Felleskjøpet are two charterers who have proven their enthusiasm and will to involve themselves. They are confident that the tender will be a significant step that could provide a scalable model for future zero-emission vessel commercial projects.

After the announcement and distribution of the RfI, several shipowners and other market players have contacted the project and have shown great interest in the tender. If your company is interested in this project and believes the products and services you provide may be relevant to the Tenderers, you are encouraged to register under 'Registration' in the menu bar. By doing so, your company will come visible for the bidders and the tender process project team. You are also welcome to download the RfI document under Publications.
